Orkes Keroncong Putrajaya

Orkes Keroncong Putrajaya is one of the most active keroncong groups in Malaysia. Established in the year 2000, the group is led by Abdul Rahim Anuar, 65 who plays guitar.

Other members of the group are Azhar (Keyboard), Wak Ali (Chello),  Osman (Cuk), (Manan (Cak), Rashid (Base Guitar), Yusuf (Flute) and Atan (Violin).

The group has four good keroncong singers. They are Azmi, Amir, Mardiana Alwi and Jamilah Abu Bakar. Occasionally the group also invited other singers for their shows such as Nas Adila, Roy, Hidayah Mustafa and Jabir.

Noramin, who is a former radio broadcaster for Radio Malaysia Kuala Lumpur acts a adviser for the group.

The group has been actively performing keroncong at Laman Seni Putrajaya every last Saturday night of the month since 2008. The group also performs at wedding receptions and corporate functions.

Wedding Reception at Hilton Petaling Jaya

It has been four years since Jamilah performing at wedding reception for Dr. Irishah bin Dr.Izham and Azlin bt Ishak at Hilton Hotel Petaling Jaya. So when there was an invitation for Jamilah and Orkes Keroncong Putrajaya to perform at the same venue on last 22 January 2011, we were very excited and looking forward for the occasion.

The wedding reception was for Azlan Hj. Yaakub and Nur Afidah Dato' Maswan, both are accountants and working with Petronas. As a former employee of Petronas (1977-2007) I feel very proud of them.

Recording of New Keroncong Songs

Last Saturday ( 15 Janury 2011), on the way sending Jamilah to her vocal class at Ampang Singing Shop, the writer received a telephone call from Mr. Wan Husin from Taman Seri Watan. He is a talented painting artist and also an ardent keroncong fan.

It was a pleasant surprise to note that he wanted to buy 100 units of Jamilah's new keroncong albums which is now in recording process. Actually I met him at the Daya Putra Food stall the previous week and gave him a CD of compilation of Jamilah Singing performance. His family and him were very 'addicted" to the songs in the CD. He had booked Jamilah to sing at his brother wedding reception in Tanjung Bidara, Malacca this coming May 2011.

Back to Jamilah's recording progress, a total of 10 new keroncong songs have been recorded at Mahzan Manan's Studio at Puchong, Selangor. Another 2 songs are awaiting lyrics from a well-known lyric writer.

All the new keroncong songs are writen and composed by Mahzan Manan who had won the 2010 Malaysian Music Song Competion in July 2010. The titles of the songs are :

Happy New Year 2011 & A Wedding Reception

Happy New Year 2011 to the fans and visitors of this blog.

Year 2010 has left us with thousands of sweet and bitter memories. All the success and failures must be accepted  and must be regarded as test by Allah - the Creator of this universe.   Life is a struggle - "an unfinished struggle" borrowing a phrase said by our well known leader, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad..

Jatuh bangun dalam kehidupan adalah perkara biasa di dalam kehidupan. Sewaktu kita jatuh jangan bersedih kalau ramai kawan yang menjauhi kita. Ada kawan yang sanggup tidak bertegur sapa walaupun berselisih jalan dengan kita. Ada yang mereka-reka dan menokok tambah tentang keburukan kita. Lalui detik-detik mencabar ini dengan penuh kesabaran dan banyakkan berdoa kepada Allah.

Setelah kita bangun kembali, berazamlah supaya tidak mengulangi kesalahan yang kita lakukan. Berhati-hati memilih kawan. Jangan lupa jasa ibu-bapa, guru-guru, ustaz-ustaz dan orang-orang yang banyak berjasa kepada kita. Hadiahkan al-fatihah kepada mereka sekiranya mereka telah pergi mendahului kita.

The coming of first day of 2011 (1.1.11) must be a beautiful date to be remembered by many. It is not surprise that many people choose to have their wedding receptions on this day.   One of the lucky couples to have their wedding reception on this date is CHA SHIH SIN and LEE MUN KONG.  They chose to have their wedding reception at Kelang Executive Club. 

Many interesting things happened at the wedding reception. The wedding guests are truly reflecting the "1 Malaysia" spirit where all races, Malays, Chinese and Indians sit togeteher to honour the wedding couple.  The programme was run in Bahasa Malaysia. The Emcee who is a Chinese speak fluent and superb Bahasa Malaysia.
